On 1 July 1971, he transferred to the retired reserve with the rank of lieutenant colonel. He was a part time instructor on the faculty of Boston university during 1954 and taught various evening courses in the school of business administration of Old Dominion university at Norfolk, Virginia from 1955 to 1959. He has been a member of the National Association of Accountants, the Institute of Newspaper Controllers and Finance Officers, the Institute of Broadcasting Financial Management and president of the Tidewater Virginia professional chapter of Sigma Delta Chi. He also has been a member of the lay advisory board of De Paul Hospital. His hobbies included photography, and genealogy and he was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, the American Numismatic Association, the Wisconsin State Genealogical Society, the Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania, the National Genealogical Society and the Historical Society of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Believing that his college education at Marquette University enabled him to achieve a level of success in life that he would not have otherwise aspired to, in 2005 John William and his wife Mary made a generous donation to fund the John William and Mary T. Diederich School of Communication at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. John William died 27 March 2006, age 76 years, seven months, of liver cancer, at __________ Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia. Although he was a teetoler throughout his adult life, he was diagnosed with Liver Cancer in February of 2005. He had been a diabetic for many years, also had high blood pressure and high cholesterol and the final analysis was that toxities from a multitude of prescription drugs built up in his liver, eventually leading to liver cancer. She attended Old Dominion University on a part-time basis from 1962 to 1970 and received her bachelor of arts degree in English in June 1970. She studied media production at Tidewater Community College at Virginia Beach during 1980 and 1981. She played the viola in the Old Dominion University orchestra from 1966 to 1973. She joined the Virginia Beach Pops Symphony orchestra in 1973 as a viola player. She also played the recorder with the pro musica group of St. Aiden's Episcopal church at Virginia Beach for three years. She was a cantor and a religious education teacher of St. Nicholas Roman Catholic church at Virginia Beach. She played the viola in the Carson City Community Orchestra in Carson City, Nevada. She was a member of the choir of St. Francis Assisi Roman Catholic church at Incline Village, Nevada. Mary will always be remembered for her gentle and giving nature. She made time in her busy schedule to visit elderly friends with her children, teaching them the value of compassion and caring for others. Despite having so many children of her own, she often included her children's friends in outings to playgrounds or the beach. She rarely raised her voice or lost patience with her many children, and was a loving and supportive wife throughout 55 years of marriage. The Diederichs had 14 children but one died in infancy:

He then obtained 14 credits at University of Detroit where he attended from September 1962 until December 1966. Joseph began his military service as a disbursing specialist with the finance corps of the United States Army. From 3 November until 13 October 1954 he served principal duty at the 44th finance disbursing section, APO 164, Stuttgart & Karlsruhe, Germany. He was honorably discharged 1 November 1960 from reserve duty. He then attended the United States Army School of Finance from March until June 1952 where he enlisted in disbursing course decorations. Joseph received two medals while in the service, an Army of Occupations medal, and a National Defense Service medal. For about two months, Joseph worked as a dishwasher for the Chippewa cafe. He was then a messenger for the Western Union Telegraph Company for about two years. Then for one year he was an assistant cook at the Empire Cafe. For about 20 days he was a Sales Clerk at St. Clair-Johnson. Then for a little over a year he was a desk clerk at Hotel Northern, all these jobs at Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. From 3 August 1951 until 12 September 1952, he worked as a transformer assembler and store attendent at Allis Chalmers manufacturing company at West Allis, Wisconsin. During his employment at Allis Chalmers, he worked for Wisconsin Car Wash incorporated from 12 August until 18 September 1951 and for the Wisconsin Club from 30 August until 16 September 1952 as a bus boy. Then for a little bit over a month, he worked as a clerk for the Milwaukee Grain Exchange. From 3 November 1952 until 30 October 1954 he served in the United States Army. From 1 July 1936 until 30 April 1939 the Diederichs lived at Eagleton, they then moved to the Martin farm in Bloomer where they lived for about a year and five months. They then moved to the Bresian res. at Bloomer, where they resided from 1 October 1940 until 14 April 1942. They then moved to 308 College Place, Ypsilonti where they lived from about a year. From 12 September 1960 until 28 January 1961 they resided at 318 West Forest, Ypsilonti; all these residences where in Michigan. The Diederichs then moved to Norfolk, Virginia for eight months, there they lived at Apartment 4C, 604 Fairfax Avenue. They then moved back to Michigan where they have been living since 1961. They moved to 258 Ardmore Drive, Ferndale, where they lived for about three years. Then for a year they lived at Robina Street, Berkley. On 4 July 1964 they lived at 210 Puritan Avenue, Highland Pack. After retirement the Diederichs went to Incline Village, Nevada where Joe designed and directed building a dream home for his brother at 1466 Glarus Court, Tyrolian Village neighborhood, Incline Village, Nevada. The Diederichs moved to Incline Village, Nevada and Joseph attended University of Nevada, Reno, earning a degree in Architecture there. They quickly became active members of the community, involved in hiking, biking and social clubs. Kay Diederich also played in the Carson City Chamber Orchestra and was a member of the Choir at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church in Incline Village. After a couragous battle, Joseph Charles died, at home, of Colon Cancer on __ _____________ 200_. Al enlisted in the United States Navy at Prairie du Chien at the age of 18 and served for four years from October 1953 to October 1957. He attended boot camp at the United States Naval Training center at San Diego, San Diego County, California. He was then transferred to flight school at Norman, Oklahoma for six weeks. After flight training, he was sent to the Naval Aviation Electrician's school at Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida for about 16 weeks. He was then assigned to a Navy fighter squadron, VF-152, aboard the U.S.S Antietam which he joined in the Philipines. After completing a cruise to the far east, the Antietam returned to the Naval Station at Alameda, California and the squadron returned to Moffitt Field. The squadron was then ordered aboard the U.S.S. Yorktown for 14 months, during which it cruised to Hawaii, Wake Island, Guam, the Philipines, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and Australia. The sqadron returned to Moffitt Field for about a month and was then ordered aboard the U.S.S. Wasp for about a 12-month deployment which took it to the same places in the far east. Allen was discharged in October 1957 as an electricians mate 2nd class. He had been promoted to 1st class but did not have sufficient time in grade and reverted. After he was discharged from the Navy, he joined the Ladish Company at Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, in the apprentice training program. He worked at Ladish until July 1964. Then he went to work for A. Behling Company at 6734 West Wells Street, Wauwatosa, Milwaukee County. He took over the electrical department at Behling in 1969 when Armand Behling died. He left the A. Behling Company in 1974 to set up his own business, Lanke Electric Company. He is now an electrical contractor. Mary Alice Diederich was graduated from McDonnell Memorial high school at Chippewa Falls, Chippewa County in June 1954. She then attended Eau Claire vocational school where she received secretarial training from September 1954 to February 1955.
