Adrianus (Janus, Jonas) and Catharina (Van den Berg) Van der Heyde

ADRIANUS4 VAN DER HEYDE (JOZEF3, JOHANNES ARNOLDI2, ARNOLDUS1) was born 14 February 1826 at Nistelrode, Province of North Brabant, Netherlands.  He died 22 March 1895, age 69 years, at the home of his brother John, in the Town of De Pere, Brown County, Wisconsin.  He married Catharina Van den Berg on 29 November 1851 at Uden, North Brabant, Netherlands.  She was born 25 August 1827 at Uden, Province of North Brabant, Netherlands, the daughter of Jacobus and Joanna Maria (van den Bogaard) van den Berg.

Adrianus Van der Heyde also known as "Adrian", also "Janus", also "Jonas".  His obituaries give his last name as "VanderHeiden".  His death record gives his name as "Adrian Vander Heiden".

Catharina (Van den Berg) Van der Heyde also known as "Kathrin".

Obituaries of Adrian VanderHeiden:

The Grim Reaper

"Adrian VanderHeiden died Friday in the town of De Pere of pneumonia, aged 69 years.  He had been a resident of this county sixteen years.  He leaves four grown-up children, Charles, Jacob, Mrs. Albert Calaway and Nellie VanderHeiden.  The funeral was held Monday from St. Mary's church."  (see copy of article)

Obituary.

"Adrian VanderHeiden, aged 69 died at the home of his brother John in the town of De Pere, last Friday evening, after a week's sickness with pneumonia.  He was born in Holland and came to this country 47 years ago, settling in Oconto, where he lived up to about sixteen years ago.  Two sons, Charles and Jacob, and two daughters Mrs. Albert Calaway and Nellie Van derHeiden; survive him.  The funeral was held from St. Mary's church Monday forenoon."  (see copy of article)

Family lore, source: Minnie Smittle (descendant of Lambertus Van der Heyde):
told the story that Adrians, brother of Lambertus, at one time almost cut his foot off with a hatchet, then went away apparently to see a doctor, but he never returned.  Adrian's obituaries dispute this story.

______ County death certificate, vol 6, p 211:
Note:  Adrian's death certificate was not entered at the time of his death.  The local parish priest kept a record of baptisms, marriages and burials.  Later (in 1899, for Adrian's record) the county asked the priests to submit a transcript of all these records and they were then copied and entered into bound volumes by the Register of Deeds of ________ County.  (see copy of article)

Witnesses were Felix Calway and Petranella Van der Heyden.  Albert was born at Town of Lawrence, the son of John and Rosa (De Keyser) Calway.  At the time of their marriage, Albert's occupation was farmer and he resided at Town of Lawrence.  See Brown County marriage records, vol 10, p 364 (or 369).  Photo Album
