1. JOHN2 HAMES (MATHIAS1) was born in 1842 in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. He died in 1891, age 49 years, of tuberculosis, at Waubeka, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin. He was buried at the old St. John's Catholic cemetery on County Trunk "Y" near Waubeka. St. John's Catholic cemetery is at the foot of a high hill called the "Pinnacle". John Hames' death is not recorded in Ozaukee County death records. He married MARIE ANNA LEIDER on July 30, 1873 at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church at Dacada, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin. Reverend Joseph Hamm of Fredonia presided. Witnesses were John Cloire and Anna Leider. The marriage is recorded in the marriage register of the church. MARIE ANNA LEIDER, also known as MARY ANN, was born in 1846 at Remich, in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the daughter of Nic and Barbara (Wilhelms) Leider. She died in 1932, age 86 years, of a stroke, at Waubeka, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin. She was buried at the old St. John's Catholic cemetery on County Trunk "Y" near Waubeka. Marie Anna (Leider) Hames' death is not recorded in Ozaukee County death records.
According to one family legend, the Hames family were members of the French nobility who fled from France to Germany about 1785, during the French revolution.
John Hames was a mason and a plasterer. However, when he met Marie Anna, he was clerking in a Port Washington hardware store.
John and Marie Anna (Leider) Hames had nine children.

iv. JOHN HAMES. John Hames left home when he was about 20 years old, at the beginning of World War I. His sister Anna last heard from him about 1917 when she received a letter postmarked "Blue Earth, Minnesota."
v. LILLIAN HAMES, b. 1879; d. 1966, age 87 years; m. (1) UNKNOWN; m. (2) ROBERT E. VOEKS. Rober E. Voeks was born 1872; d. 1953, age 81 years. Lillian's first husband owned a blacksmith shop at Batavia. Her second husband, Robert Voeks, was a cheese-maker. The family lived at Hingham and Waubeka. Robert E. and Lillian (Hames) Voeks were buried at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran cemetery at Waubeka, Wisconsin
4. vi. CHRISTINE BARBARA HAMES, b. December 19, 1881, Fredonia, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin; d. May 11, 1966, age 85 years.
vii. ANNA HAMES, d. April 12, 1966, of Parkinson's disease at Niles (?), Berrien County, Michigan; m. BURTON JAYSON, 1915. The Jaysons settled at Niles, Michigan. The Jaysons had two children.
viii. MARGARET HAMES, b. 1883, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin; d. 1885, age 2 years, at Ozaukee County, Wisconsin. She is believed to have died as the result of a bee sting. MARGARET HAMES was buried at the old Catholic cemetery on County Trunk "Y" near Waubeka, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin.
ix. JOSEPH C. HAMES, b. June 09, 1891, (or July) at Waubeka, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin; d. June 14, 1969, age 78 years, at Memorial Hospital, Sheboygan, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin; m. IRENE M. CRAMER, August 17, 1916, Waubeka, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin; b. June 28, 1897, Grafton, Wisconsin. JOSEPH C. HAMES was buried at Waubecka Union cemetery at Waubeka, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin.

2. BARBARA3 HAMES (JOHN2, MATHIAS1) was born June 29, 1876 (?). She died September 03, 1938, age 62 years, at Newburg (?), Wisconsin. She married GEORGE WOLLNER. He was born March 31, 1881, and died May 30, 1951, age 70 years.
They settled at Newburg, where George Wollner operated a farm. Barbara was a school teacher.
The Wollners had four children.

He died January 31, 1949, age 72 years, at Belgium, Town of Belgium, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin. He was buried at St. Mary's cemetery at Lake Church, Town of Belgium. He married HELEN ALICE GILLES on July 28, 1909 at St. Lawrence Roman Catholic church, Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. See Milwaukee County marriage records, v 197, p 337. HELEN ALICE GILLES was born April 16, 1886 (or 1887) at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She died May 26, 1949 (or May 30, 1949), age 62 or 63 years, at Belgium, Town of Belgium, Wisconsin (or at Port Washington, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin). She was buried at St. Mary's cemetery at Lake Church, Town of Belgium.
Helen Alice Gilles also known as "Ella".
Initially, Conrad was a school teacher. About 1914, he became a partner with Nicholas Hubing in a general store at Belgium. Their slogan was "Hubing & Hames made Belgium famous." They operated the business together until they were old men.
Conrad Joseph and Helen Alice (Gilles) Hames had four children.
Helen Alice Gilles was the daughter of John William and Maria Theresia (Kamp) Gilles. Her birth is not recorded in Milwaukee County birth records. According to family tradition, she was born in 1886. However, the 1900 U. S. Census, which lists the month and year of birth and age of each person, reports that she was born in April 1887 and was age 13 when the census was conducted.

4. CHRISTINE BARBARA3 HAMES (JOHN2, MATHIAS1) was born December 19, 1881 at Fredonia, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin. She died May 11, 1966, age 85 years. She was buried at Riverside cemetery near Ladysmith, Rusk County, Wisconsin. She married WILLIAM A. EMLEY November 24, 1909. He was born December 06, 1883 in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, and died November 22, 1949, age 66 years. He was buried at Riverside cemetery near Ladysmith, Rusk County, Wisconsin.
Christine Barbara Hames was baptized "Christina Anna" on 10 January 1882 at St. John the Baptist church at Waubeka. Her sponsors were Nic Leider and Anna Leider. See the baptism records of the church.

She was born September 12, 1912 at Sheboygan Falls, Sheboygan County, the daughter of Francis Cornelius and Anna Agnes (Steimle) Potts. Ruth Marie (Potts) Hames married, second, _____ KOCH.

Bill Hames was an electrical engineer. Ruth (Potts) Hames Koch was a registered nurse.

6. LEROY NICHOLAS4 HAMES (CONRAD JOSEPH3, JOHN2, MATHIAS1) was born November 25, 1918 at Town of Belgium, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin. He married PATRICIA ALICE GESSNER on July 28, 1945 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church at Lake Church, Town of Belgium, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin. She was born February 18, 1922 in Random Lake, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Jacob and Alice Margaret (Masterson) Gessner.
Leroy Hames was employed by the American Medical Association until he retired. During World War II, he served in the United States Army Air Corps as a navigator on a B-17. His plane was shot down, and he was a prisoner of war for two years. The camp in which he was imprisoned was freed by General Patton in 1945. He was discharged with the rank of first lieutenant.
Leroy Nicholas and Patricia Alice (Gessner) Hames had two children.

7. BEATRICE MARIA4 HAMES (CONRAD JOSEPH3, JOHN2, MATHIAS1) was born August 11, 1921 at Sheboygan, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin. She married HALLIE DUANE NEWLUN on August 10, 1946 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church at Lake Church, Town of Belgium, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin. He was born September 09, 1918 at Ontario, Vernon County, Wisconsin, the son of William Chan and Elsie Catherine (Thomas) Newlun.
Beatrice Maria or Marie Hames.
Hallie was an agricultural agent and chairman of the University of Wisconsin Extension. During World War II, he served in the United States Army for four and a half years. He was discharged with the rank of staff sergeant.
Beatrice was a high school teacher at Lena, Oconto County.

She married LEROY ALOIS BLEY on July 03, 1948 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church at Lake Church, Town of Belgium, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin. He was born May 23, 1925 in Belgium, Town of Belgium, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, the son of Nic M. and Helen (Kleckner) Bley.
Leroy Bley was a home builder. During World War II, he served in the United States Navy for two and a half years. He was discharged with the rate of carpenter's mate, second class.
Joan was employed as an accounts receivable bookkeeper at Tires Unlimited, Inc. at Port Washington, Wisconsin.
