Abraham Yost
Home of Abraham Yost, located north of Jacobus, Pennsylvania, on the Susquehanna Trail.
According to Becky Anstine, this old white house was drawn on the 1799 map of York County, almost exactly as it looks today and an Abraham Yost was living there then. This is probably one of the properties that Abraham bought from the estate of his father, Nicholas Jost, Sr.
The house is located close by the road known as the Susquehanna Trail that runs from York to the Maryland state line. Just north of Jacobus, Pennsylvania, there is an old bridge at Lake Williams and Lake Redman. As soon as you cross this bridge, heading north toward York, the house is on the right. This bridge would have been the boundary line between Shrewsbury and York townships then.
This property was also the site of the Keystone woolen mill. Adam Hendricks, Jr. had shares in this mill that were either sold or inherited by his children when he died.
